Droitwich Netball Club formed in 2015, as a project between Wychavon Sports Partnership and England Netball, to encourage girls at Droitwich High School to take up the sport. Alongside the success of England Netball and the rise in netball numbers, the club has gone from strength to strength and now runs 5 sessions a week at Droitwich Leisure Centre and the High School. We have over 100 members and our own courts marked out on the Astroturf at King George V playing fields.
Our junior age groups range from Year 4 to Year 13, on a Wednesday at the leisure centre and a Tuesday at the High School, and we run a Back To Netball session for adults (Age 16+) on a Monday night. We place the emphasis on learning through fun. We encourage, but do not mandate, members to play in local leagues.
The main aim is loving the sport, building friendships and confidence and improving physical and mental wellbeing via a game all our coaches have always loved.
We support the Duke of Edinburgh scheme and those with ambitions of sports careers, and encourage girls to get involved with volunteering, coaching and umpiring.
Our coaches are England Netball qualified, first aid trained and hold enhanced DBS checks. We are currently in the process of registering to undertake the CAPs Bronze award.
